ECON/O/GLIDE AUTOMATIC POWER DOOR (APD)

RMI automatic doors are specifically designed for use in cold storage rooms.  State-of-the-art motion and presence sensors open and shut the room doors for convenient, hands-free access.

RMI Automatic Door Sensors work with Carts

ONLY RMI OFFERS ALL THESE FEATURES:

DOPPLER RADAR MOTION DETECTORS

Dual K-Band Radar automatically opens the door from the inside and outside.  Inside and outside motion arrays are independently adjustable for pick-up distance as well as side-to-side bias, and can be set for increased sensitivity to motion from one side of the door to the other.  They reliably sense motion from less than 18 inches to more than 6.5 feet from the door.

INFRARED PRESENCE SENSORS

Dual and independently adjustable, they provide an invisible safety curtain on the door’s inside and outside, preventing the door from closing on slow moving personnel and objects.

MOTION DETECTORS

Selectable unidirectional or bi-directional motion detection on each detector.  The unidirectional setting senses any object moving towards the door and ignores objects moving away from the door.

AUTOMATIC DIGITAL SIGNATURE

Analysis allows the door protection and motion system to learn the background and the door motion pattern.  This feature allows the door electronics to ignore items you place near the door face.

REMOTE PROGRAM CONTROL

Hand-held, battery powered (similar to a television control), with a digital access code lock.  This control can program door opening and sensing parameters.  Door hold-open time can be adjusted with the remote from 0.5 to 9.0 seconds.  Longer hold-open times can be provided by adjusting the factory Preset Door Programmed Microprocessor Control Program (PLC).

RMI Key Interlock SwitchRMI Remote Programmable Door Opening and Sensing

KEY SWITCH

Allows an authorized operator to set the door to “OFF”, “AUTO” or “OPEN”.  In “OFF” Position – The door is held actively closed and will not respond to the outside motion sensor or outside presence sensor.  The door is still opened by the inside motion sensor and the inside access switch.  In the “AUTO” Position – The door operates from the motion and presence detectors.  In the “OPEN” Position - The door remains open until returned to the “OFF” or “AUTO” positions.  In this key position, the door can be freewheeled for adjustment or maintenance.

AUTOMOBILE-STYLE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS

Central circuit board wiring and shielded electrical cables all contribute to rapid field service and part replacement, if necessary.

PROGRAMMED MICROPROCESSOR

Controls motor, door and motion sensor operation.

BRUSHLESS DC MOTOR

Highly reliable with only one moving part.  The motor's rotor is suspended from both forward and rear ball bearing races for extremely long life.

ELECTRONIC DYNAMIC BREAKING

Quickly reduces door speed near the end of travel.

ELECTRONIC TORQUE LIMITS

Protects working personnel from excessive door closing force.

CONTROLLED DOOR ACCELERATION

Assures smooth door opening and closing by controlling door acceleration and deceleration.

CAPACITIVE PRESSURE SENSITIVE SWITCH

An interior switch with a constant burning LED light activates the door from the inside even when the key switch is in the “OFF” position.

MANUAL OPENING

Free wheeling manual opening in the event of a power failure.

SEALING GASKET

Magnetic, central sealing gasket.

PHOTO-OPTICAL SENSING

Senses the door position.

LOW VOLTAGE

DC, motion sensing, key switch, and interior switch wiring.

ADJUSTABLE ECCENTRIC CAM-ROLLER

Located on each door assures that the doors meet uniformly along the vertical centerline.

POLYURETHANE TIMING BELT

Steel reinforcing guarantees the long term reliability of the door drive system.

EASY CLEANING

Two interlocked removable front covers allow easy access.  The door is also available without front covers.

BOLLARDS

Stainless steel, tubular.

OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTION

External Wizard – Located above the door, outside the chamber. Detects people and/or objects approaching the door from the outside and remaining near the door opening just outside the door.

Internal Wizard – Located above the door, inside the chamber.  Detects people and/or objects approaching the door from the inside and remaining near the door opening just inside the door.

Inside Safety Switch – Located on the inside of the chamber to the right of the door (as viewed from the inside looking out).  Illuminated, the switch is operated by finger pressure on the center of the disk, just below the red LED.

ALARMS

Type 1 – A single chirp alarm is generated when the door fails to move because of an obstruction, excess friction, or drive failure.  The alarm will automatically clear in 30 seconds.

Type 2 – A double chirp alarm is generated when the door position sensors detect an abnormal condition, usually by removing the upper door fascia. The alarm will automatically clear in 30 seconds.

Type 3 – A triple chirp alarm is generated when the door is opened by the internal wizard, the internal safety switch, or is forced open while the key is in the off position. The alarm will not automatically clear; it requires a key.

OPERATION

Power Up – When the door is initially powered up it will move to the position set by the key. The internal and external wizards will initialize, causing the door to open and close, while they learn the optical characteristics of a clear doorway.  It is important that no objects or people enter the detect field of either wizard during this time.

Key “OFF” – Until the door is in the closed position the door will operate as though the key is set to “AUTO.”  Once closed, the door will not respond to the external wizard.  If the internal wizard or the internal safety switch is operated, the door will open and a Type 3 alarm will be generated. Also, a Type 3 alarm will be generated if the door is forced open.

Key “AUTO” – The door opens in response to either the external or the internal wizard and the internal safety switch.  The controller sets the length of time the door remains open; factory set at 2 seconds. The door will remain open while the wizards detect the approach or presence of people and/or objects and will close following a programmed delay after approach or presence is no longer detected.

Key “OPEN” – The door will open.  Once opened the door will deactivate.  Once deactivated it will move only if pushed or pulled by hand.
